Sonia Luhong Wan is a self-taught contemporary artist hailing from Kuching, Sarawak. A graphic designer by training currently working in the space of renewable energy, Sonia's diverse portfolio reflects the constant exploration of intersectionality in both her own life and her art.
Taking inspiration from the cultural and natural heritage of her Bornean homeland, her distinctive style seeks to empathically discuss both the folk tales of the otherworld and current social/environmental issues of this world, navigating the boundaries—or lack thereof—between the two realms.
Sonia currently actively participates in the local creative scene through @borneobengkel and @hauskch.
Sonia Luhong adalah seorang artis visual kontemporari dari Kuching, Sarawak. Terlatih dalam bidang reka bentuk grafik dan kini bekerja dalam sektor tenaga boleh diperbaharui, portfolio Sonia yang berbagai-bagai mencerminkan penerokaan persilangan kehidupan dan seni beliau.
Mengambil ilham daripada warisan budaya dan semulajadi tanah airnya di Borneo, gaya beliau yang tersendiri cuba membincangkan cerita rakyat tentang alam ghaib dan isu-isu sosial/alam sekitar di dunia ini, justeru menangani sempadan—atau ketiadaan sempadan—di antara kedua-dua alam tersebut.
Sonia terlibat secara aktif dalam landasan kreatif tempatan melalui @borneobengkel dan @hauskch.
